About

Tax filing built for US expats, not retrofitted.

Atamatax is the tax-preparation software the existing market didn't bother to build. TurboTax sells a Live Expat add-on but routes you to a CPA. MyExpatTaxes and Expatfile gate Form 8621 (PFIC) behind their top tier. Boutique expat CPAs are excellent at $1,500–$5,000per return — but most of our customers can't justify that on straightforward holdings.

What we cover that others don't

What we are not

Atamatax is software, not a CPA firm. We don't represent you to the IRS, give individualised tax advice, or sign your return. We do generate every form, schedule, and worksheet you need to either mail the package or e-file via IRS Free Fillable Forms (integrated e-file via an authorised Electronic Return Originator ships once our EFIN clears, target Q3 2026).

Pricing, briefly

Flat per-return, no usage-based surprises. $299 (no PFICs), $499 (PFICs), $799 (PFICs + treaty positions + multi-year backfile). You pay only when you finalise — the draft is always free. The full breakdown lives on the pricing page.

Who's behind it

Atamatax is operated by Atamatax — raison individuelle, Suisse (registration pending CHF 100k revenue threshold). The product was built by US expats who've fought their own returns with the existing tools and decided the gap was wide enough to fill. For everything else, support@atamatax.com reaches a human.
